Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) PEBA can produce complex, isotropic parts without the need for support structures. This process creates components with a characteristic matte, slightly granular surface finish that is exceptionally durable and light, typically weighing 15-20% less than traditional flexible materials. Because the laser precisely fuses the polyether block amide powder, the resulting parts exhibit incredible fatigue resistance and a high "snap-back" energy return of up to 85%, making them ideal for high-performance athletic midsoles and mechanical dampers. The SLS method allows for the creation of intricate lattice structures that can be tuned for specific softness or rigidity, a feature widely exploited in the medical and aerospace sectors. These parts are functionally superior in extreme environments, remaining flexible and impact-resistant in temperatures as low as -60 °C where other elastomers would fail. Furthermore, SLS-printed PEBA is naturally resistant to oils, greases, and chemicals, ensuring that functional prototypes and end-use components maintain their structural integrity and professional aesthetic throughout their lifecycle.
