Recycled rABS is made by reprocessing post-consumer or post-industrial ABS waste, therefore reducing the need for new raw material and reducing waste. Unlike some recycled plastics, ABS tends to retain its mechanical properties well through the recycling process, with most research showing only minimal changes compared to virgin ABS, particularly for material that hasn't been through many recycling cycles. It generally shares standard ABS's impact resistance and heat tolerance, along with the same UV sensitivity and yellowing risk in prolonged sunlight. As with other recycled filaments, batch-to-batch color can vary since different sources are often mixed together. Recycled rABS suits functional prototypes, enclosures, and general-purpose parts where standard ABS would normally be used.
