Thermoplastic polyurethane, or TPU, is a very common form of elastic polymer or elastomer, capable of being printed on FDM 3D printers. Of the many kinds of flexible 3D printer filaments, TPU is slightly more rigid, which makes it easier to manufacture and use. FDM TPU has a Shore hardness in the range of 85A-95A and is a medium-strength material with very high flexibility and durability; it is able to withstand much higher compressive and tensile forces than its more common counterparts PLA and ABS. Note: Flexibility varies based on the infill amount.

Medium Hard (Shore A91-A100)

50 colors

Higher rigidity while maintaining some flexibility. Useful for Mechanical parts, impact-resistant components.

Medium (Shore A81-A90)

14 colors

Provides moderate hardness, commonly used in many general-purpose applications, such as wearable devices, phone cases.

Soft (Shore A61-A70)

13 colors

This range offers significant flexibility and a soft texture.

Very Soft (Shore A50-A60)

12 colors

Suitable for applications requiring very high flexibility and softness.

Very Hard (Shore D51-D70)

4 colors

Almost entirely rigid, suitable for demanding applications. Example use cases are structural supports and gears.

Medium Soft (Shore A71-A80)

7 colors

Offers a balance of softness and support. It is ideal for semi-rigid grips, flexible enclosures, and moderate cushioning.

Hard (Shore D30-D50)

6 colors

For applications requiring significant rigidity and less flexibility, such as structural parts and stiff enclosures.
